Native to: While Philodendron hederaceum, the species to which ‘Rio’ belongs, is native to Central America, the ‘Rio’ cultivar itself is a greenhouse mutation and not found in the wild.
Water: Water your Philodendron ‘Rio’ when the top 5-7 cm of the soil are dry. Ensure that the plant is in a pot with good drainage to avoid root rot. Typically, this means watering about once a week during the growing season and less frequently in the winter.
Light: Philodendron ‘Rio’ thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and cause the variegation to fade. If natural light is insufficient, fluorescent lighting can be a good alternative.
