Anthurium besseae aff. ‘Dark Velvet’ x Ecuador dark no id
Anthurium besseae aff. ‘Dark Velvet’ x Ecuador dark NOID is a hybrid anthurium we made at Growtropicals notable for its dark, velvety foliage and striking venation patterns. This hybrid combines characteristics from its parent plants, resulting in a unique specimen. Parent images are also shown.
Native to
While the exact origins of this hybrid are not documented, its parent species hail from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. These regions are characterised by high humidity, warm temperatures, and diffused light conditions, which should be emulated in indoor environments to promote healthy growth.
Water
Maintain consistent soil moisture by watering when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Use distilled or rainwater to prevent mineral buildup, and ensure thorough watering until excess drains from the bottom. Avoid waterlogging, as this can lead to root rot.
Light
Provide bright, indirect light to mimic the dappled sunlight of its native habitat. Placing the plant near an east or north-facing window is ideal. Protect it from direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Humidity
High humidity levels between 60-80% are essential for this hybrid’s health. Utilise a humidifier or place the plant on a tray filled with water and pebbles to maintain adequate humidity. Regular misting can also be beneficial, but avoid excessive moisture on the leaves to prevent fungal issues.
Temperature
Maintain indoor temperatures between 18-28°C (65-82°F). Protect the plant from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 12°C (54°F), as exposure to cold can cause leaf damage and stress.
