Alocasia sanderiana var. nobilis
A strikingly architectural species due to its unusually shaped leaves with deep red to purple undersides. Cultivar of Alocasia Sanderiana which is native to the Philippines.
- Leaves are waxy, thick, glossy and dark green with contrasting white veining.
- Leaves are long, slender, arrow shaped and serrated.
- It is also known as the Kris plant because of its leaf edging which resembles the wavy bladed kris sword.
Growth pattern: Tuberous & compact
Water: Little and often. Keep moist but not waterlogged.
Ideal Position: North or east facing
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light.
Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
