Alocasia cuprea ‘Red Secret’
The leaves of this variety of Alocasia appear metallic in varying hues of ruby red, alluding to its name. Native to Borneo.
- The ‘secret’: when backlit or in sunshine, this species appears to glow bright red.
- Leaves are waxy, thick and glossy.
- Alocasia Cuprea are also called Mirror Plants due to their iridescent, luminous leaves.
Growth pattern: Tuberous & bushes outwards
Water: Little and often. Keep moist but not waterlogged.
Ideal Position: South, east or north facing
Light: Medium to bright, indirect or filtered light.
Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
