Alocasia ‘Black Velvet’
A jewel variety of Alocasia which stays small while still producing iconic elephant ear leaves. Cultivar of Alocasia reginula which is native to Borneo.
- Unusually dark leaves with contrasting white veining
- The only variety of Alocasia to have velvet textured leaves
- Space saver because of its compact growth habit.
Growth pattern: Tuberous & compact
Water: Little and often. Keep moist but not waterlogged.
Ideal Position: North or east facing
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light.
Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
