Alocasia ‘Amazonica’
Bold, mask shaped and tribal patterned foliage is why this is often known as the African Mask plant. Hybrid of Alocasia Longiloba & Alocasia Sanderiana which are native to South-East Asia.
- Deceptive in both its names as it is neither native to the Amazon or Africa.
- Leaves are waxy, thick, glossy and dark green with contrasting lime to white veining.
- Leaf undersides are deep purple.
Growth pattern: Tuberous & bushes outwards
Water: Little and often. Keep moist but not waterlogged.
Ideal Position: North or east facing
Light: Medium to bright, indirect light.
Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
