Calathea makoyana
This Brazilian species of Calathea has beautiful glossy leaves with distinctive dark green ‘windows’ and deep burgundy undersides. Calatheas are known as ‘Prayer plants’ meaning their foliage folds up at night and drops during the day.
Growth pattern: Compact rosette geophyte
Water: When the top 2-3cm of soil becomes dry.
Ideal Position: East facing

Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
